The impending arrival of a child is one of the most exciting experiences in your life. Who would have thought that this excitement and anticipation could change so quickly to concern and trepidation. That’s what happened to us when Naomi was born prematurely, weighing just 1.5 pounds. In an instant, we were thrust in a world that had to focus on so many decisions regarding Naomi and our family…How will we stay close to her while caring for her big brother, Bennett? Where will we live after she was transported from Lawrence Memorial Hospital to Yale-New Haven Hospital? How are we going to keep our family together throughout this ordeal?
Fortunately, the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut was there to make this challenging time a little easier by providing our entire family a convenient place to stay close to Naomi while still giving our young son, Bennett, a warm and friendly place to call home during his little sister’s hospital stay. This special “home away from home” was a gift to us made possible by so many donors who annually support this amazing house and all the incredible people who work there. We are thankful that the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut was there for us.
Currently, Naomi is thriving and now 3 years old. Bennett is 5. Each year, we give back to the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut by preparing a full Thanksgiving meal for the families at the House every August. It is our small way to say thanks.
Every day, families face the challenge of having a child in the hospital, and your generosity helps Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts keep them together. Learn more about our programs and join our community of supporters.
