In June 2017, Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut opened its new doors at 860 Howard Avenue, directly across the street from Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. The House immediately welcomed families into its 18 guest rooms and two respite rooms. In less than three years, there was a long waiting list and we found ourselves unable to provide assistance to countless families desperately needing our home away from home.
The increased demand for services requires Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut to expand its number of guest rooms from 18 to 29 in order to support our families. Fortunately, in 2017, the building committee had the foresight to plan for a future expansion. During construction of the House, necessary plumbing and electrical services were placed behind the walls in the space currently being used for staff offices. This $1.4 million campaign will allow conversion and furnishing of this space into additional guest rooms and will also include programming support to enable us to meet the growing demand for our services.
Offering more families a comfortable place to stay with amenities like TVs, private bathrooms, and space to rest.
To provide better tools, information, and support to empower families during treatment.
The McDonald’s Owner/Operators from Connecticut and Western Massachusetts have generously given through additional donations based on pounds of french fries sold in their restaurants during our original Building Hope Campaign.
We are deeply grateful for their special support and thank them for their additional gift to support this expansion plan.
Giving means more than just bricks and mortar. It is a lasting legacy of hope, love, and compassion. Please help the increasing number of families who need our special home away from home. Your gift will benefit thousands of children for decades to come.
